My heroes have always been Cowboys

Oklahoma State Cowboys, that is.
For once, a coach stands up for his players against the media, and what happens? His grammer is scrutinized?? Try scrutinizing a state paper that is notorious for ‘playing favorites’. In the state of Oklahoma, there are two large papers to read - the Daily Oklahoman and the Tulsa World. Depending on what part of the state you live almost dictates which you read BUT shouldn’t determine which college team receives more coverage.
And yes, I am biased as a former student athletic trainer at OSU, so understand where my anger comes from isn’t just this incident. Years of lopsided coverage, headlines, and praise for OU and the leftovers for OSU. Leftovers for a school responsible for one of the most talented football players and people I have ever known, Barry Sanders. Winning the Heisman trophy was monumental for OSU, but if you read the Daily Oklahoman at that time, it wasn’t so great. Now a turf toe or late practice at OU, that’s printworthy.
What also bothers me about this situation is that the columnist in the middle of this brouhaha is a woman - a woman using her gender to further the media circus surrounding the ordeal. If you are going to write about football, then KNOW THE GAME, HONEY. Know what to say about players, what colllegiate football is like beyond the field, and for GOD’S SAKES, the mind and hearts of the players.
I stand behind Mike’s tirade.
Shame on you, Daily Oklahoman.
GO OSU!!!!
