I've been Cingulated

cingular.jpg Where do I start? Missed calls on occasion are one thing, but as a rule, bad business.
Shoddy reception out of town is understandable, but while in the middle of town, unacceptable.
Dropped calls once in a blue moon, I can take, but part of a daily routine, just screams PISS POOR SERVICE.
Now I have informed Cingular of these problems, from which I received a forty dollar refund. A drop in the bucket compared to the last three months' bills.
When it was AT&T, I had little to no complaints. There was immediate service, customer service was truly aimed to please, and all was good in the World of Tish.
Now I find myself debating calling plans with a guy from Utah who keeps calling me Trish (Commandment #11 according to Moses), and paying out the nose for crummy service.

So, I ask you: where should I tell them to go? The lake, the highway for a long walk, or somewhere even worse???

I am guest blogging for FTS tomorrow, but I posted the entry today in the chance that I sleep late OR go garage sale-ing. Either way, go by and read it if you want a visual of my childhood.

Bad service = bye-bye, if you have a choice in the area. We pay them way too big bucks to grin and bear it.
Myself, I had to wait out a year contract once before moving on. Never had the Cingular pleasure.
The World of Tish, or Trish, must be placid.

We have Cingular (formerly AT&T) too. I haven't had problems since the switch (still using my old AT&T phone) but have heard that some people have had better luck trading in for a Cingular phone. Of course if you do that you have to give up whatever AT&T plan you were formerly on and convert to one of Cingular's current plans (due to technical reasons related to the fact that they are still operating 2 different billing systems). This also means a new contract. Which wouldn't help if the service remains bad. Nevermind, forget I said anything. Just start investigating the competition. :)

OK, so this isn't exactly about your Cingular post. But I just arrived at the new site, and this is the most recent post, so I choose to comment here. Deal with it people!

I have to admit, I got used to the ol' familiar site, so this will take some getting used to. But oh my God, I am in love with the woman in the hat! I will come here daily, if only swoon. Cowgirl Up!

I say get T-Mobile. I've been with them for two years and I've never had any complaints. I was with Cingular for only 3 months and told them to shove that contract up their poo-shooter.

Love the new look.

You apparently broke FTS because we're not, or should I say, I'm not, allowed to makes comments over there, so I'll make them here. Looks and femininity aside, I'd follow you anywhere, maybe it's just me, but I laugh my heiney off.
I'm so glad that in my day at least, a perm was for girls, and I got to watch my three older sisters go through Hell. Perms still stink though, you'd think they could freshen them up a bit.
I had to *take* my daughter to the piano Nazi, that's okay, cause for a half hour, I got to sit outside thinking, that'll fix you for not cleaning your room. She said hers spit on her when she talked.
There is not a post of yours that I do not enjoy, if you're taking pre-orders on a book, sign me up.

My own two year episode with cell phones ended in '04; a year with the sack of dung Qwest, followed by a better plan with AT&T, but still...at my rate of use (5-10 minutes a month), I was basically paying between $5-10 a minute.

Foo.

Just call me a 20th Century guy...but not on a cell phone ;)

Tish, thank you so much for guest posting while I was in Colorado. My apologies to anyone who was unable to comment -- that has been rectified now.

I have been a subscriber of T-Mobile since their Voicestream days, about 8 years ago. I was previously with AT&T before that, but I am so happy with my plan and service that I can't see changing right now. I use my cell phone exclusively, both for personal and business, and only pay one phone bill a month by eliminating home and business lines. I have yet to regret it. Oh, and I highly recommend the Motorola V330 handset and HS820 Bluetooth.

Yep, color me a happy customer.

Thanks again, Tish!

We originally had AT&T, it was okay, then got Cingular to take advantage of a discount and hated it. Once that contract was done we got Verizon and have been very happy with it. Haven't tried T-Mobile, but why switch? We can call anywhere in the continental US and Canada as a local call and have plenty of US places where there are no roaming charges (and plenty where there are, but way, way less than with our old Cingular plan.) The only complaint I have is that one of my regular grocery store/supermarkets is out of range (just while we're in the store.)

Have you talked to Genuine Jim or The Muzik Dude about this? Both say Cingular sucks large. Genuine might have some advice on a replacement.

I have Tmobile, they are okay as long as you don't go out of the area, service stinks, but they will give you credits and pretty above average customer service!!!

I'm a Virgin girl myself.

Oh shaddap. A girl can dream!

Sadly, living out in the boonies here, I always get crap service. I have Cingular though and I have to say in town it generally works pretty dern good. Much better now that they took over AT&T towers.

I CANNOT use my cellphone in my own house though, so our mobile to mobile minutes don't even count for me.

Does anyone have Sprint? We have it but everytime we HAVE to get a new phone or upgrade any little thing it extends the contract another 2 years. We have almost unlimited minutes (from a plan they no longer offer - wonder why?) but also "roam" a lot. Of course for $5.00 a month more they will allow roaming calls without paying roaming charges, but guess what - it extends the contract another 2 years.
